Great quality and product
Quality cypress product. Very pleased!!!
Not gonna mention any names but I purchased 2 cypress boxes from another company. I thought they looked a little different. Well, they were. The Cypress boards were thicker. AND, the hand cut outs are a lot smoother in these. Quality is better with Foxhound.
First time buyer from these guys. I chose this vendor because of the cypress wood and the dovetail construction, which I think is superior, along with reasonable pricing. Received my order with good communication, packaged well, and in good condition. I assembled the frames and they fit together well without any problems. The boxes did not come with any nails, which was probably explained but, just the same I needed to go purchase 2 kinds of nails. I chose 2” galvanized outdoor nails and a 1” smaller non-galvanized nail for the 4 places to nail where the wood is thin. I pre-drilled the holes for the nails to prevent cracking. In the old days they used to pre-drill the holes for you but, I would rather drill my own holes than pay more. I painted a primer coat and a second coat with high quality latex paint. Good high quality paint will last a long time these days. I used Sherwin Williams paint I already had. I expect these boxes to last a long time. All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase! I am an old beekeeper who cannot lift full size hive boxes anymore. I am experimenting with managing year around hives in 5 frame boxes. Waiting till spring to see how they over wintered the first year?
