InstaVap Lite Oxalic Acid Vaporizer

Taking pre-orders now for shipping at the end of November. Supply is very limited on this product launch.

The InstaVap Lite is a budget-friendly option for beekeepers looking for effective mite control with oxalic acid vaporization. It is designed to work with smaller, more common 2AH batteries, making it an affordable choice for those who don’t want to invest in larger battery setups. Although it takes slightly longer to heat up, it delivers the same high-quality results as other models, providing effective varroa mite control in a compact, portable package.

When To Use Oxalic Acid Vaporization:

Vaporizing varroa mites with oxalic acid is an excellent way to kill mites. But like all mite treatments, it works better at certain times of the year and in particular situations. Vaporization is nearly 100% effective against mites inside the hive, but not in underneath the wax capping.

Because OA cannot penetrate the wax capping, it is most effective when a hive is without capped brood. This is during the winter for most areas of the US, after collecting a swarm, after a colony has sent a swarm out and during requeening events when the hive has a brood break. These are all excellent times to use oxalic acid vapor.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Affordable and Convenient: Uses smaller 2AH batteries, reducing the need for additional battery purchases.

  • Effective Mite Control: Quickly reduces varroa mite populations, ensuring healthier, more productive bees.

  • Precise Temperature Control: Sublimates oxalic acid at the optimal temperature for maximum efficacy.

  • Portable and Lightweight: Easy to carry for multi-hive management.

  • Compact Design: Offers the same high-quality treatment as larger models in a cost-effective, smaller package.

Comparison to InstaVap Original and InstaVap Compact

Compared to the InstaVap Original, the InstaVap Lite is more affordable and compact, but takes longer to heat up. The Original is faster, especially when using higher-capacity batteries like 6AH, and is designed for more consistent use with larger apiaries. The compact is also a little heavy and more durable with it's boxey design.

When compared to the InstaVap Compact, the Lite is smaller and compatible with more common 2AH batteries, while the Compact offers faster heating and vaporization times due to it's higher power consumption, it needs larger batteries than the 2ah. The Lite is ideal for those with smaller-scale beekeeping operations who are willing to trade some speed for cost savings.

Usage Instructions

Turn on the vaporizer to preheat it to 445°F, and then fill the plunger with oxalic acid. Insert the stem into a drilled 1/4-inch hole or the hive entrance. Release the oxalic acid by tapping the plunger, allowing it to vaporize instantly. Each treatment takes around 20-30 seconds. Make sure to monitor the battery voltage and wear protective gear to avoid exposure to oxalic acid fumes.

Detailed Description

It is perfect for beekeepers who want to treat their hives efficiently without investing in larger or more expensive battery setups. The compact size and compatibility with common tool batteries make it an excellent choice for smaller-scale operations. While it takes slightly longer to heat up compared to the InstaVap Original and Compact, the results are just as reliable, ensuring healthy and productive hives.
